Week #21

Reminders/Announcements:

*Please sign/initial your child's agenda daily.
*Students are asked to read nightly for at least 45 minutes.
*Plastic Cutlery! We are in need of extra cutlery in the class. The initial extra set I purchased at Costco at the beginning of the year is almost all gone! If you have any extra plastic spoons and forks at home, please consider donating them to our class.
* French Pathway Form is due Feb. 28.
*Dance-A-Thon: Let's get those pledges! There are lots of prizes to be won. Thanks to our School Council we will be having our first Dance-A-Thon on February 13th. Any completed forms and funds can be brought to the school before the deadline.
*Skating: Thank you for returning the permission slip for our skating days. A couple of important notes:
  1. All parent volunteers must have a Vulnerable Sector Check before volunteering or have begun the process. Parents who have indicated they were interested in volunteering but do not have their Vulnerable Sector Police Check can apply online at  https://www.ottawapolice.ca/en/about-us/Level-3---Vulnerable-Sector-Check.aspx  A letter from the school (on school letterhead) stating that you are seeking a Record Check for the purposes of volunteering at the time of submission is available. This letter will waive a portion of the fee. Please let me know when you need the letter.
  2. The school has extra skates for lending, but the sizes are very limited. Helmets are also hard to come by. Please let me know as soon as possible if your child needs to borrow skates from our school. We will need to see the availability of sizes and try on a few for the perfect fit.
  3. Our first skate is on Thu. Feb 20, 2020 at 1:00 - 2:00 pm.
Looking Ahead to This Week:
  • Mon. Feb. 3 - HWK sent home, due Mon. Feb. 10
  • Thu. Feb. 6 - Sweater Day! Our school buildings will be a little chillier on February 6th, so we are asking that all students wear or bring a sweater to school. Through participation, we hope to understand how everyday actions affect our planet’s future.
