Week #3

It was so great to see so many parents last Wednesday at our Program Night/Meet the Teacher evening. If you were unable to make it I've included a link to the presentation to the right under "Important Links".

The students are bringing home information about the Life Saving Society's Swim to Survive Program. This is a unique opportunity reserved for only Grade 3 students in our School Board. Please read the information and return the permission form by Fri. September 27. We're looking forward to a great time!

This week, the students are working on completing the first homework assignment together as a class so that next week when they bring their Homework Folder home they'll be familiar with the homework expectations.

Reminders:
*Please sign/initial your child's agenda daily.
*Students are asked to read nightly for at least 20 minutes (either with a parent or independently)
*Thank you for reviewing and returning the Student Information Verification form.
*All students from Kindergarten to Gr. 6 are asked to pay an activity fee of $30. This student activity fee is used to defer the costs of many upcoming Grade 3 team activities.
*Please consider donating money to the Terry Fox Foundation. You can donate cash or thorough our School Cash Online account:  http://www.terryfox.ca/StMartindePorresESOttawa
Our School Terry Fox Run will take place on Friday, September 27. Thank you for joining us in the fight against cancer!

Week #2

We had a great first week of school!

Thank you very much for sending in many items such as tissue boxes, large ziplock bags, dry erase markers, pencils, extra snacks, etc. with your child. Your contributions to our classroom will be well used and are so very appreciated!
During the first week, the students were busy familiarizing themselves with our classroom environment, expectations, and routines. Over the next few weeks, the students and I will continue to build our classroom community by learning more about each other through various team-building and all about me activities. I have also been enjoying getting to know my new students. Thank you for completing and sending back to school the green Introducing Your Child form (I gave out on the first day of school) your insights and feedback are valuable and very helpful even throughout the year.

Reminders:
*Please sign/initial your child's agenda daily.
*Students are asked to read nightly for at least 20 minutes (either with a parent or independently)

Looking Ahead to This Week:
*Wed. Sept. 11: Terry Fox Assembly (10:45am), Program Night/Meet the Teacher (6:00pm - 7:00pm)
**Brown Bag Autobiography Hwk due on or before Mon. Sept 16**

Welcome!

Welcome to our Grade 3 (2019-2020) Class Blog!

A Prayer for the First Day of School

A school year begins!
New people to meet,
exciting new things to learn,
new discoveries about the goodness of
your world and your people, God.
But I am a little afraid.
Maybe others are too, too, even my teachers.
God of New Beginnings,
I know you are with me.
I hear you say my name.
“Go forth with my Wisdom and Spirit to learn and grow.”
Amen.
