*Fri. Oct. 12 Picture Day, AY Jackson App. Project

The AY Jackson App. Project is an ongoing partnership project (Oct.-Jan) with Grade 9 and 10 Computer Science students at AY Jackson Secondary School. The goal of this unique project is to collaboratively design an educational computer game. The High School Students will be generally coming to our school to work on the project. However, we are scheduled to visit the Secondary School twice to see a few computer programming aspects such as animation and the coding used to create the games. We will share our finished projects in January. The date will be determined soon.
Our first visit to AY Jackson Secondary School will be on Thursday, October 25. Please let me know (via note in agenda) if you would like to volunteer to join us for the visit as well as accompany us on the walk to and from the Secondary School.  Permission forms for this excursion will be coming home soon.

Week #4

Happy Autumn! 

The time of year when the gorgeous foliage, crisp air, crunchy leaves beneath our feet, and the festive traditions allows us to slow down a little to spend quality time with our families!

*Your child's R.E.D (Read Every Day) duo tang went home last week. Please take the time to read together or have your child read independently. Make sure to record the reading on the reading log. Once the log is filled, send it back to school and your child will get a reward for reading!

Week #3

It was so nice to meet so many parents last Wednesday at our Program Night. If you were unable to attend, I have sent home the handout in your child's agenda to keep you informed. You can also view the slide presentation here.

Week #1

We had a very busy, but very enjoyable first week back to school!

Thank you for sending in many of the items from the Suggested School Supplies List such as tissue boxes, large ziplock bags, dry erase markers, glues sticks, and soap with your child. Your contributions to our classroom's community supplies will be well used and are so very much appreciated!

The students have been familiarizing themselves with our classroom expectations and routines. Over the next week or so, we will continue with a number of "Getting to Know You" activities focusing on our individual strengths, interests, and needs. Thank you for completing and sending back to school the Introducing Your Child page (I gave out on the first day of school) your insights and feedback about your child are valuable and very helpful to me.

 A Prayer for the First Day of School

A school year begins!

New people to meet,

exciting new things to learn,

new discoveries about the goodness of

your world and your people, God.

But I am a little afraid.

Maybe others are too, too, even my teachers.

God of New Beginnings,

I know you are with me.

I hear you say my name.

“Go forth with my Wisdom and Spirit to learn and grow.”
